What buyers should verify before engaging a new supplier
A first conversation is not evidence of commercial confidence.
Resilient decisions need visible context.
Verification goes beyond checking that a company exists. Product or service scope, communication capability, quality processes, compliance expectations and commercial terms should be assessed as one picture. The speed of a first response and the capacity for an ongoing working relationship are not the same thing.
Buyers should treat verification not as a box-ticking exercise, but as a sequence of conversations that makes risk visible. Questions are not only for requesting documents; they reveal a counterpart’s working system, limitations and level of transparency.
